This is a short book which looks at the promises of God in many areas of our lives. It looks at faith, prayer, trust and pride. It raises questions and challenges about serving too much and those annoying people in our lives that God has put there for a purpose. This is a pocket-sized book and didn’t take long to read, but I find myself thinking I need to re-read this book slowly and with my journal.
What I liked most about this book was the pages of Scripture. Each chapter starts with a small paragraph, and then is followed with lots of Bible verses. I want to go back through this book and reflect on those promises, mark them in my Bible and pray them over my life. This book is rammed with goodness and truth, and I am excited about going back to this book to hear those truths again.
There were a couple of things that bugged me:
- The colour of the font. I read this on my Kindle app and the font was light green, which I found hard to read. I much prefer black text on a white background.
- Often the chapter started with “Girlfriend” or “Sister” – I can’t read those terms without a silly voice and I found it off-putting. I just don’t relate with terminology like that.
As can be seen, my complaints about this book are minor. I thought it was a challenging and helpful read. I loved how packed with Scripture it is and I am looking forward to re-reading this book – more than once! I rate this book 4 out of 5.
