It is that time of the week again, and I’m excited as I started this day by finishing a book: Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. I didn’t think it was her best book but I did enjoy it, and read 100 pages in one sitting. For various reasons – namely the fact my husband and I are re-watching West Wing my reading has been slow to get get started this year, but I have finished two books this week so I’m a happy girl! Anyway, down to business…

Book Blogger HopThe Book Blogger Hop is hosted over at Crazy-For-Books, go check it out – read the rules and join in! This week the question is:

“What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Β Why are you anticipating that book?”

I think I’m most looking forward to The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa. This is Ash’s story, and it has to be said, I love this series and cannot wait for this to be released!

What was your favourite subject at school?

Mine was history! I just loved it – so much I now have two history degrees πŸ™‚ I don’t do anything with it now, I work in the church office, but I love the subject and love reading historical novels.

Please leave a comment if you pop by, and feel free to become a follower! Have a great day and weekend πŸ™‚

Book Blogger HopIt’s Friday, and time for the Hop! To join in and read the rules hop over to Crazy For Books! This week’s question is:

“What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?”

Probably the plot. That, and usually the cover are what draw me to a book. I can often read put up with annoying characters if the plot is good and I have a desire to find out what happens.

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee. Head over there to find out more! The guest blog this week is Rabid Reads – don’t forget to check the site out! This week’s question is:

What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?

I studied history at university, thinking I would go into museum work. However, part way through the course I fell out of love with history – except now for novels and TV dramas! I finished my degree with a 2:1 but am currently serving my church for a year, mainly doing admin for our communications department. Oddly, I actually really enjoy it, and this is such a worthwhile year πŸ™‚

Thanks for dropping by! Do look round and leave some comments. Let me know who you are and where I can visit you!

There are two books I would suggest:

About A Boy by Nick Hornby – very good novel

Baptised by Fire by Jack Hywel-Davies – a great Christian biography of Smith Wigglesworth.

Book Blogger HopBook Blogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy For Books. The question asked this week is:

Post a link to a favorite post or book review that you have written in the past three months.

One of my favourite posts is:

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

I loved the book so much and it was so easy to write this review and fill it will passion and honesty. Similarly, I also like the review of:

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

I gave both these books 5/5, and I loved reading and writing about them πŸ™‚

The question asked is:

My question for you guys, eBook or Print?

Easy: print! I love being able to hold a book, carry it around with me, and show it some love! I do have a lot of ebooks, but I find the computer chair uncomfortable and I don’t like looking at a screen for long periods of time. I also think there is something special about a physical book that you don’t get with an ebook.

Hello! Welcome to Friday! This means it is time for the Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday!

Book Blogger HopBook Blogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy For Books. The question asked this week is:

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Sometimes. If a cover is a bit plain I can be put off. I am definitely attracted by covers, and will often pick up books because I think the cover is pretty! If I want to read the book before I see the cover I won’t be put off, but yeah sometimes a dull cover or a picture I don’t like will stop me picking up a book.

The question asked is:

My question for you guys, what is your favorite brick and mortar bookstore?

Probably Waterstones. The one in Brighton is over four floors and I love it! They usually have a three for two offer on as well, which tempts me. Sadly I can’t afford many books so I end up buying them from Amazon Marketplace, getting them as review books or taking them out of the library.

Hello! Welcome to Friday! This means it is time for the Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday!

Book Book Blogger HopBlogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy For Books. The question asked this week is:

Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?

I do use a rating system. I rate books out of 5, and use flowers to indicate how many out of 5 I give. In my side bar you can see the rating system. I use it because I think it is easier and quicker to know what the person thinks of a book by using a rating system. It also helps me to remember what I thought of a book too! It might not be great, but it works for me.

The question asked is:

My question for you guys, what is the first book that you remember reading?

I remember reading Spot The Dog! I know my oldest brother used to read to me, as well as my parents (there is a great photo of him cuddling me and reading!) I remember other books such as Enid Blyton’s Magic Faraway Tree and The Animals of Farthing Wood, but I think I read them when I was older. I have always been a reader though πŸ™‚

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy For Books. Every week she asks a question:

Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year?

Easy: Sarah Dessen! When I started reviewing young adult books I looked at Goodreads for a young adult list and saw her name. I read Just Listen first, and loved it! Hoping this wasn’t a one-off I then read The Truth About Forever and loved that also! Since then I’ve read Last Chance, Lock and Key and Along For the Ride – all have received top marks. I’ve got a few more to go before I’ve read all her books, and I’m looking forward to them all!

Follow Friday is hosted by the Parajunkee. Every week she links to another site for us all to check out, and this week it is:

The question asked by Jen at The Hop is: TELL US ABOUT THE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING!

I’m currently reading Last Chance by Sarah Dessen. I am trying to work my way through all her books, I love them! This one is an older novel that she has written and is shorter than her other works. The story is about Colie, a girl who has never settled in one place long enough to have friends, but this summer her mother, now famous, is off touring Europe so she is sent to North Carolina to stay with her slightly eccentric aunt. Here she gets a job, makes friends and life gets better πŸ™‚ This is a young adult book but I’m a twenty-something who loves this author! She writes characters who I like and storylines that are gripping. She is well worth reading πŸ™‚

Every week Jen at Crazy-For-Books asks a question and this week it is:

RIGHT THIS INSTANT, WHAT BOOK ARE YOU DYING TO GET YOUR HANDS ON (PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE)?

The answer for me is easy: The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. I’ve been dying to read it for what seems like forever. It looks so good and I’ve only heard great things about this book. I have reserved it at the library so hopefully it will arrive sometime soon.

Thank you for dropping by if you came from either! Please leave a comment and a link so I can find you, and also, please vote in my poll. I don’t know what to read next! The poll can be found at the left-hand side of the page. Thank you! Have a good weekend πŸ™‚
